About this blog

I have colon cancer.  Before I got this diagnosis I was a healthy man with hardly a visit to the doctor in decades.  Then I felt as if I were aging a bit too quickly and had myself checked out.  Severe anemia was the verdict from one look at my blood.  Without any other explanation for the loss of blood, this can only mean one thing.  My doctor didn't say so but transferred me to the hospital for more thorough tests right away.  This is how this blog starts.

I do not know where this will take me.  I might die tonight or live another fifty years.  I have no idea what to expect, except that it's probably going to be painful.  I don't want any of this.

This blog is a place for my memories, a place to go back to when I need to, to remind myself of how hard things used to be and how good.  It's also a place for my friends to catch up with me when I'm not sending everyone weekly email updates. Everyone else is invited to linger and read.  If you find something amusing or uplifting, something that gives you solace or courage, come back for more and stay with me.

This is not a record for the archives.  I might change old posts if new details seem to fit better there.  There is a slim chance everything will be put into a coherent form at some later point.

Thank you for reading.
